PAR 4
Men’s Handicap: 5
Women Handicap: 15
Wonderful opening hole with OB left off the tee and trees down the right side. Well struck drive will leave short to mid iron into green guarded by deep bunkers on both side. Back pin is tough to get access to with downslope behind the green and OB long. Green is fairly flat with most of the slope in the front of the green.
PAR 4
Men’s Handicap: 7
Women Handicap: 11
Another good par 4 that will play tougher into a north wind. Creek off of the tee shouldn’t be a problem but bunker left will come into play. The second shot will need a mid iron to a blind green except for the long hitter. Green is protected by bunkers on both sides. Green slopes from back right to the left side.
PAR 3
Men’s Handicap: 17
Women Handicap: 15
Welcome to the putting experience at Rutland Country Club. This hole requires a mid to long iron from the back tees down to a mid to short iron from the forward tees. The green is kidney shaped with the back left higher than the lower front right side. There is a tremendous amount of slope in the green from back to front. The left side of the green is protected by a bank and ledge area. The front and right side are protected by three bunkers. Distance control on the tee shot will set up your best chance for par or birdie.
PAR 5
Men’s Handicap: 1
Women Handicap: 5
Short par 5 will provide a good chance at birdie or eagle for the longer hitter. The tee shot is important with a creek coming into play down the left side and trees down the right. Players going for this green in two must avoid the deep bunkers left and right, the trees right of the bunkers on right side and OB long. Players laying up will find a severely sloping fairway from left to right and a small creek on the right. What you will not see is the hazard over the hill to the left and OB left. A lay up should leave a wedge shot to a fairly flat green with some slope from back to front.
PAR 3
Men’s Handicap: 11
Women Handicap: 17
This the longest par 3 at Rutland and the hardest hole. The tee short will be anything from a 4 iron to driver with all carry to a green elevated from the fairway. Shots hit to the green that don’t hold will leave a very fast down hill chip from some heavy rough. Short is usually rewarded to being long on this hole. The green has a tremendous amount of slope from back to front. Putts from either side will break towards the front of the green. Once the putt starts rolling down the slope stopping it will be difficult. Best putting will be done from below the hole.
PAR 4
Men’s Handicap: 9
Women Handicap: 9
From the Back tee most players will hit a driver or three wood. From the forward tee golfer may choose less club to control the direction off the tee. A miss right can cause many problems, large slope that will feed the ball down hill leaving tough approach. From the fairway you will have a down hill approach. The shot will probably play a club less. A miss right of the green will probably kick down hill into hazard. The left side is guarded by a deep bunker in the front right and a shallow bunker back right.
PAR 4
Men’s Handicap: 13
Women Handicap: 1
Short uphill par 4 with a forced carry over a river and the river runs down the right side of hole. There are two fairway bunkers on the right side about 110-130 out. The ideal drive will be left of these bunkers leaving a short iron into the green. The golfer should pay attention to pin location on this green. A front pin, red flag, will penalize a shot hit long, even middle of the green, short and chipping will be better. A back pin, Blue Flag, will also penalize a shot hit long with a drop-off behind the green and the slope from back to front will make a treacherous up and down.
PAR 4
Men’s Handicap: 3
Women Handicap: 3
Another shorter par 4 with more trouble right off tee than left. From the fairway the approach will be to an elevated green with a bank on the right than can assist the ball getting onto the green. Too far right and you will be chipping from and elevated plateau to a green that runs away from you. A miss left will bring a deep bunker into play as well as a tough pitching area beyond to bunker to an elevated green. The green slopes from back to front and from right to left.
PAR 4
Men’s Handicap: 15
Women Handicap: 13
A short par 4 and very possible birdie hole. Hole doesn’t require driver. Left off the tee can bring a lot of trouble into play. A ball finding the fairway will leave a short iron or wedge. There is a chocolate drop protecting the front of the green with deep bunkers short and right. The green slopes from the front to the middle, from back to middle and from left to right.

PAR 4
Men’s Handicap: 16
Women Handicap: 16
Another short par 4 that can be driven by the long hitter. There is a river that runs the entire left side of the hole and swings behind the green. The player not trying to drive the green will face a fairway that slopes from right to left. The approach from the right side could be from a sever side slope so finding the fairway off the tee is best option. The green slopes severely on the left side to right and from back to front. The approach must be kept below the hole to have a good chance at birdie.
PAR 4
Men’s Handicap: 10
Women Handicap: 6
Short dog leg left with a fairway that runs from right to left. The tee shot requires a 215-225 yard shot aimed just left of the tall pine at the end of the fairway. This will leave a short iron or wedge to a narrow, deep elevated green. There are two bunkers short of the green that shouldn’t come into play. Right of the green is an embankment that should assist the ball getting onto the green. Shots missed right of the embankment will leave a nearly impossible downhill chip to a green that runs away. There is a collection area left of the that is a much easier up and down. Players leaving themselves long putts will find more break than they would imagine.
PAR 3
Men’s Handicap: 14
Women Handicap: 14
This hole requires a difficult tee shot to a well protected green. The hole plays downhill which will take a club off the distance. The green slopes from back right to front left and has a deep bunker short left. The green is protected short right by a bunker and an embankment like on 11 that can kick a players tee shot onto the green but if missed right will leave an extremely difficult pitch to a green that runs away. The green will baffle players with difficulty in reading and controlling the putt.
PAR 5 Men’s Handicap: 2 Women Handicap: 2
Fun par 5 with many options for the big hitter. The hole plays longer than the yardage because the tee shot is uphill. The long hitter that can carry the upslope will find a downslope that should feed their ball into an area that they can consider going for it in two. For the shorter hitter the fairway slopes from right to left and will feed their ball to the left side or the fairway. The second shot will be blind to a fairway that runs from right to left and downhill. The green will be elevated from the fairway and slopes from right to left. A miss on the approach right or long will usually result in bogey or higher. Another of the many greens on the back that the player needs to keep the ball on the correct side of the flag to make the putting easier.PAR 4
Men’s Handicap: 6
Women Handicap: 12
Tee shot from elevated tee to a large fairway. The approach is to an elevated green with a severe drop off to the right. The green seems flat but provides plenty of slope in the front from the middle to front and left to right. From the middle of the green to the back the green slopes to the right side of the green.
